Best way to see Australia! I can not say enough good things about Steve Andrew and our day with him on the Great Ocean Road. Approaching the GOR in reverse was exactly what we were looking for to avoid the crowds. Steve was very knowledgeable about the things that we saw and experienced. The vehicles were very clean and comfortable. Steve was on time to pick us up and return us to our house so we could make connections for other activities. We had such a positive experience on this tour that we booked another tour for a second day. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Australia.

Our guide Steven Andrew picked us up at our hotel in St. Kilda at 7:30 am and got us to the far end of the Great Ocean Road first, to see the 12 Apostles before the big tour buses would arrive. On the way we stopped at a cool little coffee shop for our caffeine fix and a muffin (include). We had an uncrowded visit at the Apostles view point and Steven helped with the group photos. We eventually stopped at all of the main sights including an amazing gulch which has a jungle like rain forest with huge trees and thick with large ferns. Lunch was at the seaside village of Apollo, where Steven took us to one of this favorite restaurants, the Bayleaf (included). He also directed us to a great ice cream shop, with extra creamy ice cream. As we continued east, Steven made a point of keeping us on schedule so that we would be back in St. Kilda at a reasonable time. We really enjoyed the chance to see Koalas in the wild. We had a Koala spotting contest which was easily won by Steven. Steven 4+, American tourists 2. It's harder to spot them than it looks. We ended up at the sign that marks the beginning of the Great Ocean Road and heard the history of the project. Steven also gave us stories about each of the stops we made which helped us understand the history and current situation. We got back to our hotel in St. Kilda by 6:30 pm in time for our happy hour. The 4 of us agreed that our private tour with Steven Andrew made for a great day and was a good value.

Late review but here goes, brought the family to tour Melbourne on the 12th of December. Steve our guide for 2 days was very knowledgable about the history and stories of where we went, which was the Great Ocean Road, Dandenong Ranges and the Puffing Billy steam train. Steve was also very flexible. It was raining on the 2nd day of our tour, and it was the day of our visit to the Dandednong Ranges. The experience itself was very mystical, sometimes eerie even, with mist, rainfalls, and with the occasional streaks of sunlight seeping in from the branches of the trees. Also because it was raining, Steve made some on the spot decision making of what kind of activities our group could do (indoor stuff). Some include going to a cherry farm, and getting some genuinely amazing cherries, and to some of the wineries. Could not go wrong booking Great Private Tours for your next visit.

My parents and I went on two trips with Great Private Tours - Great Ocean Road and Philip Island with Dandenongs. It was my parents' first visit to Melbourne and I was very keen on making it a special and memorable experience for all of us, and it couldn't have gotten any better than this amazing experience we had with Steve! Steve was a fantastic tour guide - he was very understanding, accommodating and adaptable - he closely listened to me and helped me tailor the trips as per my needs and interests. To begin with, Steve has an ocean of knowledge - from different species of animals, to technical details of flora and fauna, to history and details of each and every place we visited, to even in depth photography! Steve literally knows the nook and corner of any place we visited, and always has the best suggestions for us, driven purely by our interests. Apart from taking us to the gems of places, Steve also took us to the best spots for photography, best restuarants, and he was always willing to click pictures for us. Steve was able to help us with just about anything and he made sure that my family and I could have the best experience - he was also very considerate and helpful with our dietary preferences. Steve is a great and fun to be with companion, and my family and I were always in a conversation with Steve. I had various surprises planned for my parents, and Steve was not just supportive of my ideas, he even helped me surprise my parents! Overall, my family and I had a lovely two days, great touring experience and an absolutely brilliant time! Steve completely understood the pulse of the situation and what exactly I was looking for, and I would love to recommend Great Private Tours to everyone!

Can't tell you how happy my group was with the Great Private Tours experience! We were visiting from the US (Los Angeles and New York) and for many of us it was our first time to Melbourne or Victoria. Steve set up a multi-day itinerary including both the Great Ocean Road and Mornington Peninsula. In addition to knowing all the best spots to visit, he offered a wealth of information on a range of topics - everything from wine to wildlife to culture. The wealth of historical background Steve had to share gave each experience depth and context. He also knew where to take the best pictures (very important!) and were to find hidden, off the beaten path spots away from the big tour groups (also very important to my group). We also appreciated Steve's adaptability covering everything from bespoke luxury experiences to outdoor/adventure-style experiences - we were lucky enough to do both on this trip. If there was a sixth star on TripAdvisor, I would give it to Great Private Tours!!
